Kellerberrin hill. Watercolour and sepia ink on paper. 200 x 200mm
This series of small paintings resulted from a self imposed exile to the wheatbelt town of Kellerberrin, east of Perth, Western Australia. Prior to making these paintings I had traversed on foot to the summit of Kellerberrin hill to imbibe the surrounding atmosphere and paint the panoramic vista. These small watercolour views of the hill and the traversed landscape between, provided a departure point for the more abstracted atmospheric psychic landscape works to follow, undertaken while studying art at Curtin University 2012-2013, itself marking a return from exile to re-engage with community.
